Indigo/Navy Blue Tribal Ikat Vintage Kimono Silk TSUMUGI from Japan By the Yard #395

Slubby and rustic, soft not sleek, probably quite old handwoven Tsumugi.  Symbols,  chrysanthemums, clouds and currents appear in red, two greens, light blue and gray/white. The blue is very dark, shot with black and probably dyed with indigo. There are lots of handwoven slubs and  beautiful 'imperfections'  A true ikat, both sides are just the same. The surface is softly textured from the different thicknesses of silk fiber in the weave. It's thin and light, with body and no shine at all.  14" wide.  Sold by the full yard and we'll cut yours in one long piece to your order, from the never-used, probably quite old, bolt. 100% Silk. Japan. Ikats like this are getting harder to find and this one is a beauty.
